Driving After 75 In Queensland: Your Medical Certificate
In Queensland there is no upper age limit for driving, but once you turn 75 you must carry a current medical certificate whenever you drive. Your GP completes the Queensland Government Medical certificate for motor vehicle driver (form F3712), assessing you against the national Assessing Fitness to Drive standards.
A 75+ medical certificate is valid for up to 13 months, even if the doctor writes a longer date, so most drivers renew it each year. Many people book their driving medical alongside their annual over 75 health assessment to save a second trip.

Your immunisation status is checked at every over 75 health assessment. These vaccines are free under the National Immunisation Program for people your age, and we can usually give any that are due on the same day.

Coming With A Family Member Or Carer
You are welcome to bring someone with you. A second person can help remember advice, share what they have noticed at home and ask questions you might not think of. With your permission, we can give them a copy of your plan.

How long does a Queensland 75+ driving medical certificate last?

What happens if my GP thinks I should not drive?

No. Residents of aged care homes have a comprehensive medical assessment instead, usually arranged through the GP who visits the facility. The over 75 health assessment is for people living in their own home or a retirement village.
What is a Home Medicines Review?
It is a Medicare funded visit from an accredited pharmacist, usually in your own home, to go through all your medicines. Your GP makes the referral and then reviews the pharmacist report with you.
How long does the appointment take?
Usually 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how much there is to cover. Mention you are booking an over 75 health assessment so enough time is set aside.
