Photodynamic therapy, usually shortened to PDT, is a light based treatment used mainly for sun damaged skin. A light sensitive preparation is applied to the area, then a specific wavelength of light activates it so that damaged cells are targeted.
In Australia PDT is used both for cosmetic skin rejuvenation and, on referral or assessment, for certain sun damage related skin conditions such as actinic keratoses. Which of those applies to you is a clinical judgement your doctor makes after examining your skin, not something that can be decided from a website.
PDT is not suitable for everyone. It involves downtime, the treated area is typically red, swollen and peeling for several days, and strict sun avoidance is required afterwards. We go through all of that, including cost, before you book anything in.
