On-Site Pathology in Surfers Paradise
Convenient Onsite Pathology Services
At My Doctors Clinic Surfers Paradise you can have your blood tests and pathology samples collected in the same building as your GP appointment. Our onsite collection centre is run by Australian Clinical Labs, one of Australia’s largest accredited pathology providers, so a referral from your doctor and the collection itself happen in a single visit.
No second trip across the Gold Coast, no separate appointment, and results back with your GP sooner. The collection centre is open through the week and on weekend mornings, which very few pathology centres on the Gold Coast offer.

What Can Be Tested Onsite
Your GP will write a request form for whatever they need. Samples collected at our Surfers Paradise centre are processed by Clinical Labs, and the everyday testing we see most often includes:
- Blood tests and full blood counts
- Cholesterol and diabetes screening
- Iron, thyroid and vitamin levels
- Urine testing and cultures
- Cervical screening (CST) samples
- STI and sexual health screening
- Allergy testing
- Antenatal and pregnancy screening
If you need a test that is not collected onsite, your GP will point you to the right place. You can see the full range of what we offer on our services page, including women’s health, pregnancy and antenatal care and chronic disease management.

Do I Need to Fast?
Some tests need you to fast beforehand and some do not. Fasting usually means no food and no drinks other than water for a set period before collection — commonly used for cholesterol and glucose tests.
Always check the request form or ask your GP when they order the test. Do not assume, and do not stop taking regular medication to fast unless your doctor has specifically told you to.
If you do need to fast, book an early appointment. Our collection centre closes at 12:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, so a morning slot means you are seen and collected without a long wait without food.
What to Bring
- Your pathology request form from your GP, paper or electronic
- Your Medicare card, or your health insurance or OSHC details if you do not hold Medicare
- Any concession or pension card you hold
- A list of your current medications, in case anything affects the result
If your request form came from a doctor outside our clinic, that is fine — you are welcome to use our collection centre either way.
How It Works With Your GP Appointment
The whole point of onsite pathology is that it removes a step. A typical visit runs like this:
- See your GP at the clinic. If tests are needed, they issue a request form during the consultation.
- Walk to the collection centre in the same building, no booking required, no second trip.
- Your sample is collected and sent to the lab for processing.
- Results come back to your GP, who will contact you to discuss anything that needs following up.
Because we are open seven days a week, you can do all of this on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Our guide to seeing a weekend doctor in Surfers Paradise covers weekend appointments in more detail.
Where to Find the Collection Centre
The collection centre is inside My Doctors Clinic at Piazza 16, 3221 Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217 — convenient for patients across Broadbeach, Main Beach, Southport, Chevron Island, Bundall and Benowa. Parking and access details are on our contact page, or you can book a GP appointment online first.
